NEW GAME PLATED
AMERICAN BASKETBALL American basketball was introducedas a Taranaki sport in the Y.M.C.A. gymnasium at New Plymouth last night when six teams showed much enthusiasm. Games were played at high speaj and the forthcoming competitions promise to bring forth keen rivalry. It is expected that with further entries tho game will soon become well known at New Plymouth. The results of the games played were: Air Force A (Clow, Walker, Wright, Her« bert, Barnitt) 19 v. Air Force B (Hodder. Williams, Baker, Butt, Clark) 6; Y.M.C.A. A (E. Hoskin, Everiss, Mander, Grey, Hawkins) 13 v. Home Guard (Carter, Goody, Twomey, Bennett, Winter) 18; Air Force C (Matherson, Henderson, Neville, Grainger, Herbert) 12 v. Y.M. C.A. B (Fuller, Rosser, March, Winter, Charters) 13; Y.M.C. A 11 v. Air Forc# A 8. Mr. P. Shanahan, Auckland, was referee and was able to give the players useful hints.
