TRIBUTE TO MATRON
INTEREST IN V.A.D. s Because she was confined to her bed the matron, Miss B. A. Campbell, was unable to attend the presentation of certificates of 60 hours' service to 43 members of the Voluntary nursing Aid Detachment at the New Plymouth hospital last night. She regretted her absence very much, she wrote, especially because it would have been her last appearance in regard to voluntary nursing training. She thanked past members'- for their interest and helpfulness in the wards and said they had looked forward to the days wherl they were on duty doing their bit. "I am only sorry that the 60 hours' training are not doubled," she said, "because they hgve been of great help to us. I hope the new group will enter their work with the same zest, interest and faithfulness as their predecessors." Miss Campbell's interest in detachment work was acknowledged by the commandant, Mrs. C. A. Taylor. who on behalf of the aides asked Sister Dew to present her with a silver teapot. It was, said Mrs. Taylor, a small appreciation of Ihe matron's co-operation. They wished j her a long and happy retirement and hoped that although she was not actually in the hospital she would continue to take an interest in the detachment.
