Death of Pedestrian. Charged with negligent driving causing the death of John Clarke, Charles Gardiner Fitness. sharemilker, was committed to the Supreme Court .at New Plymouth for trial. Friendship's Tragic End. A pedestrian, who was struck by a car near New Plymouth and upon whose death an inquest was held yesterday, and the driver of the car were close friends, it was stated during proceedings. Amateur Athletic Season. $ A successful season on the whole was reviewed at a meeting of the Taranaki sub-centre of the West Coast (North Island) Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association at Stratford last night. Harbour Amalgamation. Exception to remarks reported to have been made by the chairman of the Taranaki County Council in connection with harbour amalgamation was taken by the Mayor of Waitara, who replied at last night's meeting o? the borough council.
