FAREWELL AT OPUNAKE
Prior to entry into camp with the Taranaki draft for the main body of the Fourth Reinforcements, members of the Opunake Surf Life-Saving Club and the Opunake Football Club were entertained at a social evening. Messrs. D. MacKenzie, R. A. Coad and D. R. Watt were the departing surf club members and the footballers were Messrs. R. J. Malcolm, L; G. Campbell and D. Julian. Each footballer received a hold-all from the football club, the president, Mr. E. J. Wallis, making the presentation. The football field, declared Mr. Wallis, offered the best facilities for the training of men for active service, and the experience gained there would be of considerable benefit in military training. Mr. N. Reardon, president of the surf club, conveyed best wishes to the three surfers.
