DISTRICT OF MANGOREI
Visitors from Frankley Road, New Plymouth, Lower Mangorei and Carrington Road, were present at the flnal meeting for 1940 of the Upper Mangorei Band of Hope. The programme was as follows: Vocal, Mr. H. Broomfield (accompanied by Miss B. Pearce); recitations, Misses J. Thomson, Joan Kruse, Sylvia Eva; pianoforte selection, Mr. D. Macintosh; mouth-organ solo, Mr. H. Broomfield; recitations, Pat Barr, Donal Kruse. ' Thanks were expressed by the president, Mrs. L. Kruse, to those who had assisted with the programme. There was only a fair attendance at the fortnightly flag flve hundred organised by the Mangorei patriotic committee. Mr. J. D. Pearce supervised play. The winning table comprised Misses B. Pearce and L. Roberts and Messrs. C. Smith and J. Pearce. The winner of the travelling flag was Mr. F. Dent, who auetioned his. prize in aid of patriotic funds. Mrs. Keith, Waitara, is the guest of Mrs. D. Broomfield. Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Harding were recent visitors to Mrs. A. Hawke. Miss M. A. Jones, Urenui, is the guest of Mrs. J. D. Pearce. ' Miss Joyce Periam is staying with Mrs. Goodrick.
