EVENTS AT INGLEWOOD j
Mrs. C. Benny and Misses E. Schicker and I. Old were hostesses at a gift evening at the Dudley Road hall in honour of Miss Norma Egarr, whose marriage takes place shortly. There were over 150 people present, including visitors from Auckland, Napier, Eltham, New Plymouth and Waitara. The evening was spent in dancing interspersed with musical items. Messrs. A. Broadmore and D. Baldwin were masters of ceremonies. Mr. G. H. Old on behalf of those present asked the guest of honour to accept gifts. Mr. C. Lander replied on her behalf. At a social evening held at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. R. Brown, Inglewood, members of the parish hall committee, St, Andrew's vestry, Mothers' Union and St. Andrew's Guild met to farewell Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Kivell, who are leaving to live at Putaruru. The Rev. Mr. Chard asked the guests of honour to accept a silver sandwich tray. Mr. Kivell replied. Members of the Plunket committeemet for the first time at the new rooms in Rata Street to bid farewell to Mrs. I. E. Faris, who has been a member of the society for a number of years. The president, Mrs. E. Newland, in making a presentation, spoke of Mrs. Faris' willingness to assist the society in every way. In reply the guest of honour stated that the organisation held very happy memories for 'her, as she had been one of the original committee formed at Inglewood 19 years ago. Miss Esme Buckley and Mr. Lewis Sutton were guests of honour at a party held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Phillips, Everett Road. Dancing, games, community singing and cards were held. Miss Phyllis Wellington, who sang several items, was accompanied by Mrs. Wellington snr., and Mr. Buckley played for eqmmunity singing. Mr. Phillips asked the guests of honour to accept gifts. Mr. Sutton replied. Competitions were won by Miss Irene Buckley and Mr. C. Buckley and Miss Esme Buckley and Mr. Lewis Sutton.
