HAWERA
Miss Joyce Goodwin left yesterday on a visit to Auckland. Misses Nixon and Kent have returned from a visit to the Wairarapa district. Mrs. F. Bendall has returned to Palmerston North after spending a holiday j with Mrs. N. L. Douglas. Mrs. J. C. Symes is visiting her daughter, Mrs. Ronald Blundell, Feilding, and will later visit Whangarei. Miss Alison Watts, New Plymouth, is visiting her mother, Mrs. G. S. Watts. Miss Jetta Trotter has returned to Auckland. Miss Alison Duffill spent the weekend with her mother at Hawera. Miss Valerie Comerford and Miss Bessie Flynn have returned to Wanganui after spending three weeks at Hawera. Bridge Evcning. A model gown of black matalasse crepe, with self pattern outlined in gold thread, was worn by Mrs. J. J. Goodwin on Friday evening, when she entertained friends. at a bridge party in aid of croquet club funds. Bowls of narcissii and freesias decorated the lounge. Mrs. Goodwin was assisted by her daughters, Misses Joyce and Junne Goodwin. Mrs. A. Dymond was > the winner at bridge. Others present included Mesdames W. Rudge, W. Nicholas, M. R. Jones, F. Bernard, P. Jones and H. A. Mancer, and Miss E. Joll.
