REGENT THEATRE.

"cHARLIE CHAN AT MONTE CARLO"

Finally to-night at 8 p.m. William Boyd will be seen as Hopalong Cassidy in "Renegade Trail" at the Regent Theatre, New Plymouth. The associate feature, "Never Say Die," features Bob Hope, Martha Raye, Andy Devine and Allan Mowbray. Commencing to-morrow at 7.45 p,m. at the Regent Theatre is "Charlie Chan at Monte Carlo." featuring Warner Oland. At the gaming tables of the world's gayest playground death deals a hand and Chan is called in to solve a murder that involves a large sum of moncy. To tell any more of the story would spoil for lovers of mystery pictures the finding of the clues leading to the murdcrer. This is one of Clian's best pictures, in which he is ably supported by his number onc son, Kcye Luke. Also in the cast are Harold Huber, Virginia Field, Sidney Blackmer, Kay Linaker and Robert Kent. The second feature, "Owd Bob," stars that lovable old charncter, Will Fyfle. His "Owd Bob" is a picture study of the Scottish tenantfarmer — the drunkard, the man of straw, the man with tlie iron will, Ihe man who quarrcls incessantly with his neighbours, cvcn with his charming daughter, the man who is so cunning, yet simple cnough to have that beautiful understanding with his famous clog, Black Wull— is one of the most masterly and perfectly satisfying things yet seen in celluloid. Margaret Lockwood plays an exceptional part as the daughter, John Loder is the farmer who loves her and is the owner of Black Wull's rival, "Owd Bob."
