London's Most Extensive Raid. London's latest night raid was the longest and severest so far. "Tremendous Fighters." Pilots' accounts of air attacks on London reveal the dashing part played by Polish airmen, described as "tremendous fighters." Troops for Egypt. Strong British and Australian reinforcements for the army in Egypt have passed through the Mediterranean safely in convoy. Scenes of Destruction. Whole streets in the London docks area were a scene of destruction after the opening of Germany's air blitzkrieg on the capital. Not Often at Kremlin. Denying reports of pact discussions involving Japan, Moscow says M. Stalm has not spoken to the German Ambassador for six months. Loss of Personnel. Since the start of intensive air warfare against Britain Germany has lost in trained personnel more than 4000 airmen, an air expert estimates. Enemy Ships Bombed. Determined attacks on enemy shipping in occupied Channel ports indicate German cOncentrations perhaps still being prepared for invasion of Britain. Agonising Scenes. Agonising scenes were produced by a bomb that by a million to one chance crashed down a ventilator of a London public shelter in which 1000 persons were taking refuge. Thousands Helpless. , Thousands of persons were caught helpless in the East End of London when sirens wailed for the second time of the day, and they rushed to shelter amid screaming bombs.
