PROMISING HURDLER

Smoke Screen won both hurdle races at Awapuni in great style. On both occasions he had leeway to make up in the straight but he finished like a good horse to snatch victory on the post. His jumping was a little uncertain at times on the first day but on Saturday he gave a fine exhibition. As he has always been subject to unsoundness it will not be surprising to find him being put aside as soon as the tracks become firmer as he appears likely to be able to play a prominent part in the big jumping races next winter. He is now trained by F. MeHugh at Marton.
