THE METHODIST CHURCH
OFUNAKE CIRCUIT’ MEETING. The quarterly meeting of the Opunakj Methodist circuit was held at Okato on Wednesday, when there was a good attendance of officials. The Rev. T. Coatsworth presided and the Rev. R. Tapp (Okato) was also present. Reports from various departments of the church work were encouraging. The financial returns showed the income to be £244 and the expenditure £251. The quarter started with a debit balance of £52 and cloeed with a debit balance of £7. The harvest thanksgiving effort had resulted in £ll7 being raised, and there were some promises yet to be paid. Arrangements had been made for the visit of the Rev. W. A. Sinclair, foreign mission secretary, and Gina, a Solomon Islander. Arrangements had also been made for the visit of the Rev. W. W. Avery, of Eitbam, chairman of the Taranaki district, as foreign missionary deputation. .Mr. T. I’. Hughson, eenr., gave an interesting account of the recent Methedist Church conference in Christchurch. It was decided to hold mission services during the quarter at Opnnake. Okato, Rahotu and Pihama. During the meeting a helpful and in teresting discussion took place on "The Chureh and Non-Church-Goere.” The ehnreh has a great message, it is eaid, and more might be done to make that message known. The membership returns were the same ns the previous quarter.
