GERMAN MADE MOTOR-CARS
NOT POPULAR IN AUOC'KLAND. (By Wire. —Special to News.) Auckland, Last Night. Several German-made motor cars have made their appearance in Auckland in recent months, and to-day much interest, was taken by motoring enthusiasts in the assembling of a Continental car that was unloaded from the lonic. In the opinion of representatives of the local motor trade the German ear showed marked alterations compared with models of pre-war days, but it was explained that the horse-power was lower than that of British and American makes, which did not make it a serious competitor with them. A representative of the Auckland Motor Trade Association said that high petrol mileage was claimed by the German motor manufacturers, but this was based chiefly upon “stunt” performin' ees. He added that some German ears which arrived before Christmas had not proved a good selling line and the association did not regard the importations as a serious matter
