CHAPTER OF ACCIDENTS
MOTOR SMASHES AT TIMARU FALL UNDER A MOVING TRAIN. MAK CLINGS TO UNDERCARRIAGE. By Telegrafh.—Press Association. Timaru, Last Night. Three accidents occurred here to-day. A big service bus and a motor-car collided a few miles nerth of Timaru. The driver of the car suffered severe cuts on the face and hands, while his wife, Mrs. Charles Dash, suffered a fractured thigh and knee and was taken to the hospital. In another case a resident who motored to Kakatekapo with his wife and family and a friend failed to negotiate a email bridge near the Cave township and the car capsized into a waterhole. The car was a sedan, but the locked-in occupants managed to open a door and reach dry land very wet but uninjured. In the third case a man attempted to board the express train when it was in motion. He was dragged about thirty yards, when the train was stopped and ae was released from his perilous position clinging to the under-carriage of a car. He was severely shaken but otherwise unhurt.
