BOWLING AT NEW PLYMOUTH
' TOURNAMENT AT PARITUTU GREEN FINALS TO BE PLAYED TODAY. A tournament among its own members was commenced on Saturday by the Paritutu Bowling Club and the end of the fourth round had been reached when pjay ended for the day. The fifth round will be played this morning and the finals this I afternoon. Following are details of the games:— First round: Elliot, Wheatley, Mackie, Looney (s) 23 defeated Barnes, Gaylard, E. Jackson jun., E. Jackson sen. (s) 21; Haughley, Main, Des Forges, Thomson (s) 35, defeated Fluker, Curtis, Roberts, Adams (s) 12; Mills, Rogers, Moverley, Harvey (s) 24 defeated McWhinney, Parker, Bennett, Walls (s) 24. Second round: Walls 29 defeated Adams 18; Thomson 24 defeated Looney 19; Jackson 28 defeated Harvey 19. Third round: Walls 35 defeated Thomson 13; Harvey 27 defeated Looney 17; Adams 29 defeated Jackson 25. Fourth round: Bennett 25 defeated Adams 20; Walls 27 defeated Jackson 23; Harvey 27 defeated Thomson 23. PAIRS TOURNAMENT AT FITZROY. In a progressive pairs tournament on the Fitzroy green during Easter Jury and Murray tied for the skips’ prize with four games each, and Gilbertson took the leads’ prize with four games. Another progressive pairs tournament will be played at Fitzroy to-day. TOURNEY AT PALMERSTON. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Palmerston N., Last Night. The second day’s play at the Manawatu Bowling tourney, with which is incorporated the North Island rink championship, found the following rinks leading with six wins out of six.—Brackenridge (Y’ictoria Club, Wellington) ; Martin (Fitzroy), Wardrop (Woodville), Pole (Victoria, Wellington), Crump (Palmerston North). Advice has been received in New Plymouth that the Fitzroy team (Sturm, Verry, J. Bennett and A. J. Martin) have so far won all their games.
