TARANAKI LAND BOARD
THE MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Taranaki Land Board was held on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Present: Messrs. W. D. Armit (chairman), 8. Blake, N. R. Cleland and C. J. Ryan. Further leave of absence was granted to Mr. J. W. H. Martin, who is at present absent on a trip to England. The following transfers were approved: Section 156, 2C, Hoewaka Native Res ve, Hua District.—P. Staehurski to George Grey. Sectioji 156, 2C, Hoewaka Native Reserve, Hua District. —■ George Grey to North Taranaki Hunt Club. The application for a sub-lease of section 22, block XV., Ngatimaru, from C. Skitrop to L. G. Bennett, was held over. The reports of the arbitrators in connection with the renewal of education reserves leases over the following sections were received:—Section 26, block XVI., Egmont S.D., sections 157 and 1621, town of New Plymouth. It was resolved to grant a five years' lease to Mr. J. A. B. Crooks over section 10, block 11., Aria township. An application by Mr. J. M. Fraser to dispose of the shell rock on section 5, block IX., Ngatimaru, to the Stratford County Council was held over. Mr. W. J. Cameron’s application for a month to month tenancy over section 2, block 111., Rangi, was refused. Mr. R. O’Dea was granted a yearly tenancy over section 10, block VII., Mahoe. Proposals for the expenditure of thirds by the Taumarunui, Waitomo and Ohura County Councils were approved, while those submitted by the Kithara County were held over. An application by the Waitomo County Council to hypothecate thirds from section 34, block XL, Mapara, for the payment of interest on the Tangitu special loan was refused. Permission was granted to Messrs. W. L. Hollard, W. R. Stevens and Mrs. E. M. Tonks to erect dwellings on their E.R. leases. An application by the Whangamomona County Council for an accommodation site for its surfaceman was held over. Thirty-seven applications under the Discharged Soldiers Settlement Acts were considered, and of these, six applications to transfer or let properties were recommended and two deferred. Three applications for advances for stock and improvements were recommended and one refused.
