HIGH SCHOOL CONCERT

MAGAZINE FUND BENEFITS. So well recognised is the high standard of performances by the boys of the New Plymouth Boys’ High School that long before the time for the commencement of their concert on Saturday night the Assembly Hall was crowded’to its fullest capacity. As usual the stage had been brightly decorated, but this time the effect was made even more pleasing by the addition of coloured lights and streamers. The programme by the school orchestra and concert club, was a varied one and was equally as enjoyable as those of the past. Under the eonffuetorship of Mr. J. Dobson, who was responsible for the programme, the orchestra proved to be as strong as ever and was responsible for much of the evening’s enjoyment. Vocal, instrumental and elocutionary items were numerous, while the choruses were bright and refreshing. The programme was as follows: Orchestra, "March Victorious;” chorus, “The Fishermen of England; pianoforte duet, “Valse Brilliante,” by Ford and Watt; monologue, “The Clean Sweep,” by Yorke; orchestra, “Ballet Egyption Suite;” song, “Fiddle de Dee,’ by Grieve; pianoforte solo, “Study in B Miltor” (Mendelsohn), by Campbell; song, “The Ragged Vagabond,” by Anderson; orchestra, “Le Pere la Victoire;” vocal duet, “Come to the Fair,” by Anderson and Buckeridge; instrumental trio, “Romance,” by Campbell, Gorringe and Stronge: chorus, “Wild Rose;” song, “Ka Mate,” by Buckeridge; recitation, “An Incident,” by Grieve; orchestra, Collegiate;” school parodies, by Buckcridge, Riley and Anderson; chorus, “Clap Hands! Here Comes Charlie,” by Clegg and Company; chorus, “This Time Next Year."

The concert was in aid of the Magazine Fund which will no doubt benefit considerably.
