BOYS’ AND GIRLS’ CLUBS

MEETING OF THE EXECUTIVE. A meeting of the executive of the Boys’ and Girls’ Club was held on Saturday morning. Those present’ were: Messrs A. E. Washer, H. C. Sampson, F. W. Sutton, J. M. Smith, T. Wilson, C. W. Rcube, H. Trimble, R. G. Ridling, A. J. Luxton and N. H. Murray. Mr. A. E. Washer was elected chairman for the ensuing year. ’ It was decided to commence the judging of the calf-rearing competition on or about December 12, the place of judging to be the school ground or u place to” be arranged by the supervisor or teacher, providing that such place be notified to the secretary before December 8. To prevent any irregularity in the calf-rearing, it was suggested that calves bo branded by au official one month after the time of calving, and that an official earmark be employed instead of the present, brand. As it was too late to do anything this year, it was decided to leave the matter in abeyance until next, year. It was decided to adopt the design of the certificates drawn up by Mr. Smith. It was resolved that the same judges as last year, with the addition of Mr. A. J. Luxton, be asked to act as judges for the calf-rearing. They were: Condition, Messrs W. Honeyfield and D. Alexander; type, Messrs Washer and Lux ton; charts. MeSsrs Ridling and A. T. Moore. Mr. Ridling drew attention to the fact that it was thought in some places that too many marks were being given for the charts. After some discussion it was decided that marks for charts be reduced to 25 and that 25 marks be given for a written examination arranged on modern lines, to be submitted by the competitors, and that charts be collected and judged together after the other calf-judging is completed. Consideration of demonstrations of type was suggested and held over.
