POSSIBILITY OF REDUCTION. London, Nov. 7. “If the - Atlantic cable companies lower thei;- rates we will not be slow to follow,” said a Post Office official, referring to the arrival of Mr. Newcomb Carlton, the American head of the M estern I trion Company to consult with other authorities on the possibility of a reduction. The official refused to say whether a reduction by the Atlantic cable companies would affect the England-to-Australian service, via the Imperial cable.
