BLONDES WIN

IN SEASIDE SHOW. JUDGED BY WOMEN AND MKX. London, Aug. 30. Do gentlemen prefer blondes? Folkestone has decided that they do, and the fair sex supported them in saying so. The matter was decided on Folkestone pier when many blondes and brunettes opposed each other before a record crowd. So great was the number wishing to have a hand in answering Mias Anita Loos’ question that the pier pavilion. was not large enough to hold them, and the management therefore arranged for two honsis. , It was with the consent of the competitors and the committee that women and men were allowed to vote. There were about 60 competitors, who. made a wonderful display of beauty. Each competitor had to walk down a joy bridge before the judges. In order to reach, a decision, the judges considered complexion, colour of hair and eyes, deportment, etc. It was a wonderful display of British beauty and womanhoojL By a majority of 26 votes chief honours went to Alias Alabel Soutall, of Onfield Road, Cannon Dill,. Birmingham. She is a perfect blonde, with beautiful complexion and large grey eyes. Miss W. Sargeant, a typical brunette, was second. She comes trout farm Lane, Fulham, S.W. Another brunette, Mis* Irene Everett, of Drummond Street, Regent’s i’ark, was third. Among the committee was Mr. G. E. Chipper, hairdresser to the King s household. At a bathing parade, which was held at the sains time, many striking and daring costumes were seen. In tho adults class, Alias Nerissa Wollett, of Robinson Drive, Lcnton, Nott*) was first, her costume being a harlequinade affair. Miss S. Vipond, of Folkestone, was second, and Miss Phyllis Wilman, of Folkestone, was third. Among the children, Toots \\ ilman was first, Winnie Lee second, and Spring Winlman third. All are Folkestone girls. Among the competitors were three generations of one family—mother, two daughters and tho daughter’s thre» children.
