DAIRY CONTROL AFFAIRS
ABSENCE OF MR. TIMPANY WRONG ADDRESS ON NOTICE. SEASON’S PRODUCE SHIPMENTS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Nov. 18. The absence of Mr. Timpany from the Dairy Produce Board meeting was explained in a message received by the Board yesterday. In response to a telegram from the board, Mr. Timpany advised that be had just received a notice of the meeting, which had been addressed to Timpanys instead of Woodlands. It was explained that Mr. Timpany had given Timpanys as his address in his last letter to the board. The board reports that between September 1 and October 3, shipments were 291,386 boxes of butter and 62,942 erates of cheese, on which advances totalling £1,378,611 were made. It was explained that this amount would be increased by the produce iu cool store, not included in the above. Farmers’ earnings are larger, though the price is lower, by reason of increased production. Advice from London stated that merchants would not increase the advance on cheese beyond sixpence, but the board felt that an increase was warranted and was strongly urging it.
