THE ROYAL SHOW

SUCCESS OF PEOPLE’S DAY

ATTENDANCE CREATES A RECORD

REGAL PROCESSION OF STOCK.

(By Wire —Special to News.)

A blue sky, brilliant eunshine and a light zephyr from the east was the delightful trinity of circumstances to mark the third and final day of the Royal Show to-day. The fickle goddess of tho weather had smiled from the opening day, and as a fitting finale was in her most indulgent mood, bestowing a glorious spring day which resulted in another large attendance at the showgrounds to inspect a truly regal exhibition of Dominion stock, and to sample tho manifold attractions that were afforded visitors.

The first royal show held in Auckland has been a wonderful success, and the public support was exemplified yesterday when and country, with splendid unity of- purpose, swelled the attendance to the 33.000 • mark, which is easily a record for a show attendance in Auckland. Likewise it ploced tho financial aspect, a matter of considerable concern in consequence of the big outlay that was involved, in its most pleasant light, the gate receipts being £1989.

In passing it can be mentioned that people’s day at the last royal show held in Christchurch saw the gate receipts reach £2592, while people’s day at the first royal show held at Palmerston North two years ago saw a gate of £9BB. To-day another attractive programme of ring events was staged, the jumping and novelty events attracting keen attention. The stock sales were in full swing and many farmers embraced the opportunity to pay a fairly long price for the privilege of taking home with them an animated souvenir of a truly historic occasion.
