CYCLE COLLIDES WITH TRAIN

TWO MEN’S LEGS BROKEN.

By Telegraph.—Press Association.

Wellington, Last Night. A collision between a motor-cycle and a tramear to-day resulted in Henry Martin, of Lower Hutt, and Charles Henry White both being admitted to the hospital with broken legs. Martin and White were proceeding southwards on a motor-cycle in the rear of a tram. They were on the point of turning when suddenly a north-bound No. 9 ear appeared on the opposite side of the car they were following. The driver of the No. 9 car promptly applied his brakes, but there was no chance of averting a collision. The motor-cycle struck the tram with terrific force, and the man steering the machine was thrown against the front portion of the tram, smashing the glass to atoms, while his companion was thrown on to the road. The driver of the tram escaped injury.
