LAND AGENTS’ ASSOCIATION

THE ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of tKe Taranaki Land Agents’ Association was held in the A. and P. Association Rooms, Stratford. on Monday. The president (Mr. E. Jackson) occupied the chair, and 12 members were present. In moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet. Mr. Jackson congratulated the members on the satisfactory state of the association, and said that he, as their delegate, had the pleasure of going to Hamilton recently to attend the annual meeting of the Real Estate Institute of New Zealand. There were present about 30 delegates from 'all over the Dominion, from Invercargill to Auckland, and he was agreeably surprised at the keenness shown by the delegates to endeavour to build up the status of the land agency business, and stressed upon members of the association the necessity of pulling’ together and giving the institute every assistance possible. The next annual meeting of the institute, was to be held in Timaru, when Taranaki would be entitled to two delegates, and he trusted that they would be present, as some important questions were to be discussed. Mr. Jackson also expressed the wish that all members would avail themselves of the opportunity of becoming Fellows of the Institute. The Real Estate Institute submitted a proposed North Island tariff. This was fully discussed and approved, with the exception of one or two clauses.

The election of officers resulted as follows: President, Mr. E. Jackson (New Ply-mouth), re-elected; vice-pre-sidents, Messrs. A. Grant (Hawera), M. McGarry (Eltham) and H. McDonald (Stratford); executive, Messrs. L. A. Nolan, N. Hill, O. N. Firth. C. G. Trot ter, A. Yarndley, H. Whitcombe, J. Kidd, Williams and C. Jackson; auditor, Mr. J. 8. S Medley; secretary and treasurer, Mr. E. L. Humphries; judicial committee, Messrs. E. Jackson (New Plymouth;, A. Grant (Hawera), W. A. Hewitt Hlawera) and Williams (Stratford).
