BAR TO JEWISH MEMBERS
“SNOBBISH SOCIAL BIAS.” By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright London, Nov. 15. The Jewish Chronicle, commenting on the rejection of Jews from golf clubs, says: “We see no reason for heroic protests or fretful regrets. It ie not the first time this has occurred in golf clubs, which are private concerns, whose members are entitled to determine, however senselessly, with whom they wish to associate. The exclusion of Jews is not against Judaism, in the sense of anti-Semitism, but the result of narrow, snobbish social bias.” A cable, dated No.v. 10, stated that Lc.don golf clubs unanimously condemned Mid-Surrey’s action in vetoing its membership to Jewish women. The secretary of the Beckenham Club asked vzhat would be the position if the Rothschilds, Monds and Readings applied for membership.
