INGLEWOOD NEWS.

FAREWELL SOCIAL. (From Our Own Correspondent.) • A large crowd assembled on Monday in the Druids’ Hall to bid farewell to Mrs. Coldwell on her departure from Inglewood to New Plymouth. The hall was tastefully decorated by a ladies’ committee. The Mayor (Mr. R. Darlow) presided, and during the evening several songs were given by Mrs. Farris, Miss McKee, Messrs. Darlow and Blake, which were appreciated by all. Mr. Darlow, in making a presentation of a handsome silver tea service to Mrs. Coldwell, remarked that Inglewood- would be losing an energetic and willing helper in social functions, but they wished her every success in her new place of abode. Others who spoke in similar strain of Mrs. Coldwell’s good qualities were Mrs. Winfield, on behalf of the Croquet Club, Mr. J. Roberts, on behalf of'the school committee, Mr. Longbottom, foi’ the Bowling Club, Mr. F. Spurdie, for the Fire Brigade, Mr. R. Stuart for the Inglewood County, and Rev. H. Lindsey, for the Church.

Mrs. Coldwell suitably replied. Supper was provided by the ladies. The last hour of the evening was devoted to community singing, and a very enjoyable evening terminated by all joining hands and singing Auld Lang Syne.
