MR. BARTRAM ENTERTAINED
DEPARTURE FOR ENGLAND. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. Mr. F. N. Bartram, M.P. for Grey Lynn, and Mrs. Bartram, who are about to leave on a visit to England, were entertained by their Labour supporters to night, when Mr. Bartram was presented with a wallet containing a cheque. Mr. Bartram, in returning thanks, denied the rumour that he did not intend to live in Grey Lynn when he returned, and said he hoped to live there until he died, (Applause.) He was not travelling to England with money which he had saved out of his Parliamentary salary or otherwise. The fact was that he was going to visit his mother, whom he had not seen lor 40 years. His mother had made the journey possible for him and Mrs. Bartram; otherwise their longest trip would not have gone beyond the scope of the New Zealand railways. It was not a political expedition or a countermove to Mr. Coates (laughter), but he had been offered many introductions to Labour officials and he intended to advocate the New' Zealand Labour Party’s cause, especially with regard to immigration.
