SLAUGHTERMEN’S STRIKE
RETURN TO WORK EXPECTED PLENTY OF LABOUR OFFERING. OFFERS FROM THE SOUTH ISLAND. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Hastings, Nov. 13. ft was learned from an authoritative source this morning that the butchers will be back on the boards on Monday or Tuesday. The informant said there were South Island men on the boards in Hawke’s Bay and 500 more ready to come if required. The meat that has been killed by volunteer labour cannot be declared black. It has not been killed by “scab” labour because there is not a strike. The freezing workers will be addressed to-morrow by Mr. L. Glover. Gisborne, Nov., 13. The two local freezing works will commence killing operations on Novem ber 22. The managements do not*anticipate any trouble. Many of the men have been working through fho winter and are unwilling to join a dispute. In the event of union labour not being available volunteers will be taken on.
