MAN SHOT IN THE FACE
ARREST OF A SETTLER AFFAIR AT WHANGAMOMONA. VICTIM CRITICALLY INJURED. With shotgun wounds in the face and head, James Farrelly now lies in the Stratford public hospital in a critical condition. The man alleged to have fired the gun is Stanley Emerson Carlyle Taylor, of Whangamomoua. and he lias been arrested. Farrelly joined the Public Works eamp in the Whangainomona district tLree weeks ago, but lor some unexplained reason had been wandering about in the bush for the past three days. When he wgnt to Taylor's house yesterday morning an argument occurred and Iw threatened to tie Taylor up, according to the account available. Taylor, it is alleged, entered his house and secured a shotgun and on returning fired one barrel into Farrelly a face. The injured man was brought in to Stratford by ear, and was operated on last night. The latest report was that he was unconscious and unable to make a statement.
