RIFLE SHOOTING.
REGIMENTAL MEETING. The No. 8 (Taranaki) Regimental district rifle meeting will be held at lew Plymouth on Saturday, February 5, and Saturday, February 12, 1927. The meeting is an annual one, for which entries are received from all aver Taranaki. The prize money is given by the Defence Department, and it is sufficient to provide inducement to the best shots to compete. The programme is a comprehensive one, and includes matches for cadets and territorials in rifle shooting, and Lewis, Hotchkiss and Vickers machine guns. There are in all 13 matches, as follows: Territorials. —No. 1, 200 yards application; No. 2A, 390 yards rapid; No. 28, 300 yards snap shooting; No. 3, 600 yards deliberate; No. 4, '>oo yards to 100 yards fire with movement; No. 5, teams’ match, 300 yards rapid, open to squadron and company teams, each of eight men; No. 6, \ ickcrs’ gun; No. 7, Ix'ivis gun; No. 8, Hotchkiss gun. Cadets: No. 9A, 25 yards application; No. 98, 25 yards snap shooting; No. 10, 25 yards rapid; No. HA, 200 yards application; No. 118, 2*W yards snap shooting; No. 12, 200 yards rapidf No. 13, 200 yards rapid teams match, open to cadet company teams, each of eight men. There is also the No. 8 (Taranaki) Regimental district territorial aggregate, which carries a sjiccial prize list. I’he winner will hold the shield presented by the officers of the Taranaki Regiment. There is, furthermore, the No. 8 (Taranaki) Regimental district cadet championship, provided with a separate prize list. The winner wiU hold the Newton King and A. Alexander Cup.
