BUTTER CLEARED.
BETTER TONE IN LONDON. THE LATEST PRICES. By Telegraph.—Frees Assn.—Copyright. Received Dec. 29, 5.5 p.m. London, Dec. 28. The butter market is very firm, the lower retail price having greatly increased the demand. Stocks are cl jared, but four steamers are just commencing to discharge and it is expected the demand is likely to be maintained for the present, although the retail price will be raised to 22d next week, as the public is highly satisfied with the excellent quality of the colonial butter offering. New Zealand choicest is quoted at 184/- to 186/- and exceptionally good 188/-. Australian is worth 176/- to 178/-. Cheese is in steady demand, small supplies being available. New Zealand is quoted at 134/- to 136/-. —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Association,
