GREAT LOSSES.
CANADA’S WESTMINSTER ABBEY. By Telegraph.—Press Assn—Copyright. Received Dec. 21, 5.5 p.m. Ottawa, Dec. 21. By the fire at the Basilica, which contained art treasures of priceless value, altar vessels and historical souvenirs worth millions were destroyed. Nothing was saved. The church was built in 1747. It was damaged in the British invasion, but restored several times. Nine hundred French and British Empire builders were buried in the crypt. The church was Canada’s Westminster Abbey.—'Reuter.
