Lord Lonsdale made a startling revelation when speaking at a luncheon to connection with the international circus at Olympia. He said, when a lad O { seventeen, he ran away from home and performed in a Swiss circus for eighteen months. He was an expert rider and could think of no other method of earning a livelihood. He did acrobatic tricks on and off horseback, and travelled up and down Switzerland on tour. He thoroughly enjoyed the experience, and had never lost his interest in the circus profession. He added he had himself got a pony which would sit up and beg. Nobody taught it the trick. The pony simply copied it from ad°gThat was the way* animals should be trained. —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
