BREAD PRICES IN PARIS.
THREAT BY THE BAKERS. London, December 8. A message from Paris states that bakers’ shops were besieged and quickly sold out in consequence of the decision of master bakers to close down at noon because the authorities allowed them to increase the price of bread by only five centimes a kilogramme. The Ministry of War announeea its? readiness to place army bakers at the disposal of the authorities, while the Government decided to prosecute the Master Bakers’ Federation. As the result of an interview to-day, with the Minister for Agriculture, the president and committee of the Bakers’ Federation, after consulting with members, informed the Minister that breadmaking would be resumed to-morrow morning. At par value the increase allowed in the price of bread would be less than a halfpenny on a 21b. loaf.
