ENTERTAINMENTS.

MISS DAISY JEROME. A VERSATILE PERFORMANCE. Vivacious and versatile, Miss Daisy Jerome appeared before the footlights at Everybody’s Theatre, New Plymouth, last night at the conclusion of the picture programme, and for half an hour entertained the audience with song* both grave and gay. It is as a comedienne that Miss Jerome likes to be known, but she soon proved that she could play upon the heart-strings with her pathetic pieces ns well as arouse the audiences to mirth with her lighter njusical sketches. “See the Sea,” “Pres*?, Pulpit, and Petticoat,” and “Learnt a Bit,” the opening numbers, were on the lighter side, and Miss Jerome’s stage mannerisms and pleasine voice quickly won popular favor, whilst she also showeu herself to be a quick change artiste, Incidentally the different dresses she wore were on a lavish scale, and in good taste. “Mother” was a more serious number, in which Miss Jerome excelled herself and showed herself a mi«" tress of the emotions. “County Down’* was another favorite selection, which was deservediv well received. A sprightly number, “Pull For the Shore,” followed. after which came the concluding piece of the evening, ‘Good-night,” a humorous song with a captivating lilt. Prolonged applause greeted Miss Jerome as she bowed good-night. During the performance she was presented with a beautiful bouquet. A change of programme will be given tonight, the new numbers including th© song “Heart of the Citv.” The management ask that anyone wishing Miss Jerome to sing any particular piece this evening should make their request known at the theatrt office during the day.
