REGISTRATION OF BULLS.
(To the Editor.) Sir,—A great many of my friends have misunderstood that part ol your report ot the New Plymouth Jersey Cattle Club's meeting which referred to the registration ol bulls, and have credited me with proposing to raise the fee to live guineas. Would you please allow me, through your valuable paper, to contradict that idea, and point out to them that your report does not say that % I thought it would be advisable to raise the fee, suggested £2 10s, an<i 1 stnl thlnk ttat £2 , ? , would be sufficient. In fact, I don't th Ink Jersey breeders In other places <> ndud ’ n| l Inglewood) would sanftion that much. Most breeders will destroy a great proportion ot their bull calves next year, for the simple reason that Tt does not pay to rear them. As 'it costs about £2 10s per >'e»d for entry fee, advertising and commission for the pedigree Jersey sale at WalwnKallm, there is not much profit left, on a beast that only realls 0 guineas. Th« New Plymouth members Should be credited with the five guineas pro±ed and also with the proposal of the 20 guineas mtnlnunn Ind. I opposed hot . Thanking you In Inglewood, December 18.
