MARY COLLINS’ CONTRIBUTION.
(To the Editor.) Sir,—Can you inform your readers if Mary Collins, who made use of your columns last Saturday morning In an unwarranted attack on the member for Taranaki, is any relation to Lottie Collins, the originator of that oldtime classic, “Ta-Ra-Ra-Boom-De-Ay?” Now Lottie of that ilk gained notoriety through issuing the above named ditty, but Mary is seeking notoriety in this little burgh by issuing a string of taradiddles. You are funny, Mary, but not half as funny as Lottie was, and you will never catch the public like she did. I am afraid Mary Collins (like Syd. Simith) has never been near a big dockyard to know what docker’s language really is. However, the whole thing may be summed up thus: — Mary, Mary, you are contrary, We know how your vote did go. You tried to beat Syd., we know you did, Now he’s won, it hurts you so. —I am, etc., BO’SN BILL. New Plymouth, December 18.
