SEAMEN’S STRIKE.
FINED FOR STRIKING. AUCKLAND CONVICTIONS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. At the Magistrate’s Court forty-nine seamen were convicted of being parties to a strike, and each was fined £2 and costs. DUNEDIN PROSECUTIONS. Dunedin, Last Night. A case was continued in the Magistrate’s Court to-day in which the inspector of awards proceeded against T. Outram, a seaman in the steamer Kini, for a .penalty of £lO for participation in an Illegal strike. Judgment was entered for £2 with costs. Other cases of a similar nature wore adjourned. The Union Company is seeking the immediate release of the Moeraki’s firemen to enable them to enjoy Christmas out of gaol. THE RIGHT TO WORK. Received Dec. 20, 9.45 p.m. Melbourne, Dec. 20. At the Arbitration Court, during the hearing of an application of tho Steamship Owners’ Association for a variation of the seamen’s award to compel the union to assist in manning the ships. Mr. Walsh gave an assurance that he would not attempt to dissuade men who wanted to work from doing so. APPEAL TO THE MEN. Sydney, Dec. 60. The Union Company applied to the Seamen’s Union for a crew for one of its Tasmanian steamers. It is understood the union will endeavor to comply-
