(To the Editor.) Sir,—Your correspondent "Mary Collins,” seems to take exception to the disgraceful address of the member for Taranaki when returning thanks for what may be termed "a famous victory," notwithstanding the parsons, prohibitionists, and apostles (P.P.A.) who from their pulpits, our streets and all four corners of the Taranaki electorate, desired a win against Syd. Smith, who in the past has proved himself unbiased in his judgment, anu I feel certain will prove his sterling value to both rich and poor in the future, and a member who does not appear to hold any brief for faddists, and especially extreune faddists. What are the words in the ‘‘disgraceful address of thanks” that your correspondent takes exception to? Or does ‘‘Mary Collins” consider the member has no right whatever to return thanks?—l am, etc., TOM COLLINS.
