SCHEME TO BE DROPPED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Dec. 19. In connection with the storm of protest raised against the proposal of the Post and Telegraph Department to use stamp-obliterating postmarks on letters as a means of raising revenu? from advertising, it is now practically certain that the scheme will not be proceeded with. The secretary of the department has recommended the Minister not to proceed with it, and the Hon. J. G. Coates, Postmaster-General, states he intends to advise the Cabinet against the project.
