FARM AND DAIRY.

STRATFORD MODEL FARM. A meeting of the executive committee of the Stratford Model Dairy Farm and Experimental Area Society was held on Wednesday, there being present: Messrs. J. B. Richards, E. Marfell, W. H. Were and K. Tarrant; apologies were received from Messrs. J. W. Deem and M. T. Phillips and leave of absence for the meeting granted. In the absence of Mr. J. W. Deem it was resolved that Mr. J. B. Richards occupy the chair for the meeting. Correspondence was received from the Borough Council regarding the alteration of transmission lines and it was resolved that this matter be treated as closed. The manager’s report for the period November 8 to December 13 was as follows: — Fifty-two cows are being milked; the quantity of milk for the month being 45,163 lb; tests, first period 4.0, second period 4.1, third period 3,9. Mangolds and carrots were sown on November 13 ■n different varieties, but the strike was very uneven, through so much heavy rain after sowing. The seed was covered too deep, The soft turnips appear to be a good take and are looking well. In addition to these another two acres were drilled. About 1A acres of Imperial Green Globe were sown on November 14 and halfacre of Hardy Green Globe was sown on November 27, which give about 7 acres of soft turnips. Twenty-four pigs were sold to the factory during the month, making the total amount received for pigs £46 17s 7d. Twenty-four stores are on hand. The matter of estimates for seeds and manures for November and December, was left in the hands of Mr. Richards to obtain the necessary particulars from Mr. Deem.
