INGLEWOOD.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) The Domain Board met on Tuesday. It was resolved that a reduction of £1 be made on the rent for the current half year of each of the paddocks rented by Messrs. Knofflock and Larmer, on account of a portion of each having been fenced off for planting purposes. The board then adjourned, the members assuming their positions as borough councillors, Mr. 'Sutherland, the Mayor, presiding. The application of the Presbyterian Church for permission to erect street stalls on Wednesday, the 20th inst., was granted. The electrical engineer was asked to prepare estimates of the cost of providing electric alarms in the homes of members of the Inglewood Volunteer Fire Brigade. The report of the Ibath committee was adopted. It was resolved that no charge be made for school children using the baths on school days, between the hours of 12 noon and 1 p.m., provided Mr. Lyall (headmaster of the school), or his appointee, be in charge. The notice of motion, standing in the name of Cr. D. T. iEgarr, that the use of the Town Hall for secular purposes on Sundays be not granted, was carried. It was also resolved that each application for the use of the hall on a Sunday be dealt with on its merits by the council, with the proviso that, if no regular meeting of the council is due between the dates of application and required use, the hall committee be empowered to deal with it. The rate of dog tax for 1923 was fixed at 10s, with a rebate of 5s if paid by April 30.
