HEAVY DAMAGES AWARDED. By Telegraph.--Press Assn.— Copyright. Sydney, Dee. 16. Dr. Thompson obtained a verdiet for £2OOO damages against the Medical Association, which expelled him owing to his action in the Mrs. Farr ease. A stay of proceedings was granted. Received Dec. 17, 5.5 p.m. Sydney, Dee. 17. The verdict for Dr. Thompson against the New South Wales branch of the British Medical Association was a majority one on the whole of tbe five counts. "On the first count x (expelling him from the Association) he ■ was awarded £250; on the second (inducing other doctors not to consult with or professionally recognise him) £750; and on the other three counts (involving publishing alleged false and malicious statements . regarding plaintiff! £350 on each of two and £3OO on the third.
Plaintiff’s counsel gave notice of an application for an injunction against the Association enforcing the rule preventing other doctors consulting with plaintiff.
