BOXING.
TOURNAMENT AT ELTHAM. The- boxing tournament at Eltham last night attracted a good house at the Town Hall, and the class of boxing on the whole was very good. Excellent arrangements were responsible for the smooth running of the tournament, which was in every way a success. F. Hansen beat Stott after a creditable 15 rounds professional bout. Mr. W. Foley gave every satisfaction as referee, and Messrs. A. P. Cuff and E. H. Thomas acted as judges. Following are the brief results: Feather-weight: C. Foote, 8.10 (Eltham) beat A. Brooking, 8.3% (Stratford), on points, in four two-minute rounds. Welter-weight: A. Duggan 10.8 (Hawera) knocked out H. Pearce 11.0 (Eltham) with a right upper-cut early in the first round. Light-weight: In four two-minute rounds, S. Henry 8.5 (Eltham) defeated —. Hayward 8.9 (Hawera) on points. Welter-weight: S. Fletcher 10.3 (Inglewood) beat A. Graham 10.8 (Eltham) with a small margin. Heavy-weight: Notwithstanding that he gave away so much weight, A. E. Mills 12.0 (Riverlea) proved a better boxer than L. Pepperell 13.10 c (Hawera)), and won on points in a six-round bout. Neither boxer was inclined to mix it. t In the professional bout of 15 rounds, between F. Hansen 10.11 (Auckland) and W. Scott 11.4 (Taranaki), there was a keen and willing contest, Hansen gaining the honors on points. Hansen was the better man at inflghtig, ad was in a little better condition than Scott. Both were fighting strongly at the finish, and the margin In favor of Hansen was small.
