BURNING OF CHURCHES.
ARMED GUARDS THREATENED. Ottawa, Dec. 7. Catholic clergymen in Canadian cities announced they will post armed guards and watch dogs about their churches to prevent further incendiaries. They also said they will store sacred vessels and historic records in cement vaults to save them from destruction. Valuable historical writings, dating back to 1640, were destroyed in the recent fires.— Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
