The burning of the Sulpician Church at oka, in the province of Quebec, one of several recent fires in Catholic churches, disclosed the fact that the Mayor, Mr. Martin, recently received several communications signed Ku Klux Klan, claiming responsibility for the Montreal University fire a fortnight ago, and threatening to burn other Roman Catholic buildings. The fire at St. Boniface College, Winnipeg, was followed shortly afterwards by the Montreal fire, which fortunately did only slight damage. Washington, Dec. 5. M. Clemenceau called on President Harding and conferred for 45 minutes. It has not been revealed what transpired. Rome, Dec. 5. Signor Mussolini is staying at Milan, en route for Lausanne. He confers there with M. Tchitcherin in connection with the Adriatic and the re-cession of Salonika to Jugo-Slavia. London, Dec. 5. Six men who gained admission to the public lobby of the House of Commons created a scene by singing “The Red Flag.” The police ejected them. Madrid, Dec. 5. Cabinet has been reformed. The Premiership goes to Senor Sanchez Guerra and the Foreign Affairs portfolio to Senor Bergamin. London, Dec. 5. Lord Plunket, son of the ex-Governor of New Zealand, married Mrs. Jack Barnato, widow of Mr. Barney Barnato’s son. The wife’s fortune is stated to be £900,000. —United Service. Berlin, Dec. 5. The Vorwaerts reports that the Bavarian Premier, has resolved not to sign the letter of apology required by the Allies in connection with attacks on officers. He is visiting Berlin to consult the Chancellor.
