Sydney, Dee. 6. Light, soaking rain throughout the State has ended the dry spell. It is one of the best falls experienced for months past, and there are indications of its continuance. GEN. Received Dec. 7, 5.5 p.m. Sydney, December 7. Rain continues and £here was no cricket to-day. Splendid falls occurred in the Western pastoral areas, ranging from one to .seven inches. There have, been lighter but sufficient falls to break the drought in the Bivenna districtfi. Melbourne, December 7. Over SOO shareholders of Bawra attended a meeting to consider the proposal by Sir John Higgins that the organisation be extended for handling primary products. Dr. Kater mdved an amendment that the association be wound up. The amendment was carried by 000 votes to 20. Sydney, December 7.
Though several parties with varying interests are in the field, nationalist propaganda loudly claims that the only issue involved in the "Federal elections is the choice between Sovietists, revolutionary Communists and the Council of Action on the one hand and the National Party, which stands for stable government, prudent finance, and a fair deal for every class on the other. This sweeping campaign classification is causing resentment and heart-burn-ing among the anti-Hugbes section. -Sydey, December 7. The Supreme Court has commenced the hearing of a claim by Dr. Thompson against the New South Wales branch of the British Medical Association for £5OOO damages on the ground of alleged defamation. The proceedings are the sequel to Dr. Thompson s expulsion from membership of the association which followed his connection with the case of Mrs. Farr. Brisbane, December 7. The Premier has announced that the Government will advance 3d. per lb. on ratoon cotton and will store the crops for growers until a mancet is found.
