The feature in the Taranaki electorate is the defeat of Mb E. Dixon, the Government member for Patea, by Mr. J. R. Corn? gan, the Opposition candidate. It appears certain that Mr. VL T. Jennings (Opposition) is beaten in Waitomo, as Mr. J. Rolles? ton (Government) is leading by 121, with three small returns to come. There is doubt as to the final issue in the Taranaki seat! but the position is in favor of Mr. S. G. Smith (Opposition)? who has a majority of 64, with 368 absent votes to come. Mi) R.
