At Norfolk, Virginia, two officers and four privates were killed when a pursuit plane piloted by Major Gearheart collided with a Martin bomber piloted; by Captain Doyle in a crash three hun-< died feet above the Langley flying fields Three men were killed by the fall and the others were burned to death. Captain Doyle, with four men. was leading a formation of five bombers and was just taking off when Major Gearhurst’s plane headed into the group. It is believed his steering gear went wrong.
