EGMONT LICENSING COMMITTEE.

THE QUARTERLY MEETING. The quarterly meeting of the Egmont Licensing Committee was held at the Eltham Courthouse yesterday, Messrs. A. M. Mowlem. S.M. (chairman), W. C. Ciement, A. H. Guy and M. O’Brien being present. The chairman said, he was pleased to report that nearly all the hotels in the district had apparently been well conducted and the police had no unfavorable reports to make except in one or two minor instances. In respect to the Normanby Hotel, licensed by T. D. Buckley, however, he had received a very serious report. Mr. Ryan, who appeared for the licensee, applied for an adjournment of the case, as the licensee had not received the necessary three days’ notice of the objection.
