ACCIDENT AT MAXWELLTOWN. YOUNG WOMAN’S ARM TORN OFF. A shocking accident befell Miss Eileen Smith, of Maxwelltown, on Saturday afternoon. She was engaged helping her father with the. milking machines, when by some means her right arm became entangled in one of the belts. The unfortunate young woman was terribly injured, her arm being torn off. She was motored into town in Mr. John Davies’ motor-car. Where Dr. A. Wilson was in waiting. The sufferer was conveyed to Belverdale Hospital, where an operation was performed. Miss Smith is doing as well ae can be expected, though suffering greatly froon shock. A run of misfortune has followed the Smith family of late, and genuine sympathy is felt for them in the Mlaxwell district, where they are highly respected.
